Eddie Ladd’s Gaza/Blaenannerch
Event Navigation
The Performance and Politics Research Group will attend Eddie Ladd’s latest performance in the Emily Davies Studio at 7.30 on Friday 2 November and have a discussion/drink afterwards.
Consider the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from that of another small nation striving to find its identity. De Oscuro, celebrated theatre practitioner Judith Roberts’ new company, is working with renowned physical performer Eddie Ladd to create its first work. Powerful and thought-provoking dance- theatre, Gaza/Blaenannerch unravels the remarkable connections between Gaza, a Palestinian city in the Gaza Strip, and Blaenannerch, a village in West Wales a short distance from Eddie’s hometown. Performed in Welsh and English, Gaza/Blaenannerch explores the complexities of the Israeli- Palestinian conflict from a fresh perspective and tackles Wales’ struggle with nationality and identity. This compelling and passionate piece of dance-theatre is set to Phillip Glass’ haunting String Quartet no 1 and 5.
